MYRNA GAWRYN BEGAN her career as a classically trained dancer and worked for many years as a choreographer and movment director in Los Angeles. She has studied kinesiology, anatomy, and anthropology, as well as movement modalities including Laban/Bartenieff Fundamentals and the Alexander Technique.
SHE CO-OWNED AND WAS ARTISTIC DIRECTOR for the dance and physical arts studio Room to Move in Los Angeles, and was an Artist in Residence through the California Arts Council, producing a dance and theater project for men in prison.
MYRNA WENT ON to work in film, televison and theater, choreographing and directing movement for dancers, actors and in animation. In this capacity, she developed and conducted workshops for the Sundance Theater Lab in Utah, and the Lincoln Center Director's Lab at the Pasadena Playhouse in California.
SHE WAS A DEVELOPER for LifeForms, a choreographic and storyboarding software, and has been a performer and director for motion capture, and for 'real time animation'.
IN THE LAST SEVERAL YEARS, Myrna has turned her skill, training and focus specifically to the issues involving character performance and acting in animation.
MYRNA HAS been teaching, performing and studying the movement of all things animate all her working life. Her experience with the details of action and character driven performance, and her passion for understanding how we move and what moves us, has brought her to her work in animation.
She is thrilled to see the professional industry in production, and training institutions worldwide responding to this work.
